Registered Physiotherapy
Registered Physiotherapy (Physical Therapy) is a regulated health profession that provides services to individuals to help assess and treat their injuries and ultimately restore their movement and function throughout the lifespan. Physiotherapists are rehabilitation specialists. They use the knowledge and skills unique to their profession in the assessment, education, prevention and treatment of various injuries and illnesses.
The focus of physiotherapy is to treat and educate the client and encourage them to take an active role in their own recovery.
Physiotherapy is performed by a physiotherapist (PT) who is licensed by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Physiotherapy is covered by most extended insurance plans, Motor Vehicle Insurance, WSIB and you do not need a medical referral to be assessed.
Registered Massage Therapy
Registered Massage Therapy is the practice of manipulating the soft tissues (muscles) of the body with manual pressure in order to achieve client-specific goals which can include pain relief, increased movement and mobility, stress relief and decreased tension. Registered Massage Therapists are regulated health professionals and are members of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
Braces and Athletic Supports
Braces allow for the support and stabilization of various injured areas of the body. They can provide pain relief of an injured area or support healing tissue. Braces are available for sale at the clinic and will be fitted by a professional so you know what you are getting, how it works, how to put it on/take it off and when to wear it. These include, but are not limited to, knee braces, wrist braces and supports, tennis elbow braces, shoulder slings, ankle stabilizing braces and low back supports. Various taping and exercise supplies are also for sale and if we don’t have it, we can get it for you. Braces are also covered by most extended insurance plans with the referral by a medical doctor. Check your own plan for details.
Orthotics
Are you on your feet all day? Do you suffer from aches and pains in your feet, low back, knees or hips? Your feet may not be properly supported and since our feet are required to support our entire bodies, this can lead to pain in other parts of the body. Custom orthotics may the answer for you! Custom orthotics are devices that insert into your footwear and help to correct alignment or support deviations in the biomechanics of the body. When prescribed correctly, orthotics can decrease pain, improve stability and even help to prevent future biomechanical problems. Our physiotherapist is qualified to fit clients with orthotics. Many extended insurance plans cover one pair of orthotics every few years when accompanied by a doctor’s referral. Please check your individual insurance plans to see if you are covered!
Keeping fit during and after pregnancy is important to maintain overall health and vitality but also to assist in the preparation for looking after baby. Instruction for individuals or groups in Standard First Aid, Adult/Infant CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is available. Certifications can be completed at the clinic or at a convenient off-site location. Courses can be specialized for coaches, teachers, nurses, corporations and parents.
